Session 3: Migration .. or patience?

On Tuesday, October 23, 2018, the third panel discussion on the youth project (different visions) was held. The third group chose the subject of migration.

Some young people believe that migration is a good opportunity to escape the current conditions in Yemen. It provides better opportunities for life. Some believe that travel can be temporary until the young man himself returns to his country.

Do migrants find an opportunity to work, live and live once they arrive in another country? Do creative people find a better chance in other countries? Does the population of other countries respect migrants in the recent period? Do immigrant youth think where they are going and what is waiting for them? Is Yemen really one of the best countries in the cost of living? Do other nations really respect humanity as some call it? Are young people traveling in search of safety or looking for better opportunities? What does migration require? Can a person who failed in his country succeed in another country?

Their views varied on the causes of youth migration and their unwillingness to remain in Yemen because of the current situation and the problems caused by this migration to them and the society.

The participants were divided into a group that supported immigration and called for orgize the process  so as not to negatively affect young people. Another group adopted the idea of ​​staying in the country, the advantages it would not find in other countries, and the disadvantages and dangers of migration. At the end of the session, participants presented proposals, the most important of which was to provide alternatives for young people wishing to emigrate, or to organize and raise awareness of what they would face if they left Yemen as migrants or refugees.

The project consists of 60 young men and women of different intellectual orientations and Yemeni regions. They are divided into four groups, each with 15 participants. Each group will hold three sessions to discuss various topics of interest to the community selected by the participants.  At a later stage of the project, these visions will be transformed into works of art and drama that will be presented to the public at a public event organized by the Foundation.
