Before
Begining
Basement, originally an engineering office, evolved into a space where cultural programs initiated by founder Saba Al-Suleihi encouraged knowledge and cultural exchange.
2009
Foundation Established
Basement originated from the weekly “Knowledge Exchange Forum” in 2009, founded by Saba Al-Suleihi, Yaseen Ghalib, and Dr. Yahia Al-Obali.
2012
Official Registration
Basement is officially registered as a civil foundation, marking a new phase of institutional growth and community trust.

Since its registration in 2012, Basement has grown from a modest Knowledge Exchange Forum into one of Yemen’s most vital cultural foundations. Rooted in the vision of its founders, it has become a space where creativity, dialogue, and community converge.
Basement’s heritage lies in its commitment to fostering cultural exchange, empowering youth, and opening doors for artists and thinkers to share their work with society. Its activities extend beyond lectures and performances to include diverse projects and programs, many supported by international organizations.
