Session 11: Is family planning a solution?

Does Yemen suffer from the problem of increasing childbirth that affects the economic situation of the state and the economic, social and psychological situation of families? Why do some families increase their numbers? Do women think that having a lot of children enhances their marital relationship? Should laws be put in place to determine the maximum number of children per family? What is the role of the state and civil society in reducing childbearing?

Held on Tuesday, November 6th, 2018 discussion of the eleventh meeting in the youth project (Alternative visions), where the third group discussed the third theme chosen for discussion: (family) organization, the participants addressed the idea of ​​family planning, though important in Yemeni society, and is entitled to impose The number of individuals each child has, or there are other measures to control this process.

The participants agreed on the importance of family planning in the situation that is currently experienced by the country, but their vision of solutions differed, some of whom felt that the only solution is to raise awareness, while others felt that the existence of the law determines the number of children and deprives the family of certain privileges would be more feasible.

Participants in the discussion groups presented their different views on family planning, its importance and its impact on society, and proposed solutions that help reduce the number of births that are an economic burden on the family and the state.
