Session 8: Art or Bread?

Is art important or just a luxury? Do we wait for works of art from the artist or bread? Does art help change the reality and convey the truth? Does art help to make peace and promote communication among peoples? Or does it provoke division and hostility more? Does the artist use the suffering of society to carry out his artistic works? Is art important in poor societies to express and vent, or is it a characteristic of the affluent societies?

On Wednesday, October 31, 2018, the eighth l discussion on the Youth Project (Alternative Views) was organized by the Basemant Cultural Foundation with the support of the Prince Claus Fund. The fourth group (which included 15 participants) discussed the second topic chosen for discussion: ?), In which participants discussed the subject of art and its importance in life. The participants differed about the importance of art, which some saw as part of life and the necessity of its necessities, an important component of human history, while some saw it as a luxury compared to the basic needs of life, and saw science as more important than art. Each panel of participants defended its view of art, and the controversial debate continued beyond the session.
