Resume (Behind war scenes)
War may have destroyed a lot, but the will of innovation, imagination, and living are unbeatable, and this was proven by 12 participants.
Hosted by Basement Cultural Foundation, Saturday 16th of April 2016, the innovators represented their works in a public event to show that war may remake our live styles and make us more innovative in order to live.
The participants represented their inventions which they have used to facilitate their lives during wartime, by finding alternative methods to provide their basic needs which they lacked since the beginning of the war, which was a variety of needs like house tools, and alternative sources of energy which cost much less than the official source of power. Others made inventions to facilitate transportation[G4] . And some made alternative materials to keep drawing.

In the beginning of the event, Shaima Jamal have talked about the procedures that the foundation has made to select the participants, which some of these works were already used in other countries and others were not, noting that the foundation cannot provide enough sources to spotlight these works in an international aspect and if it has, surely, it will!
The event began with the young pianist Abrar Al-Hannani and her plays, then the participant represented their inventions.
{slider Hani Bakhtan, a gasless oven}
Hani saw on Youtube details of this invention which needs no gas, thus he applied the idea using: metal bucket and sawdust to produce the oven that consumes no gas bottles which are more expensive during wartime. Hani also made his own touch to the product, and made multiple ovens and gave it to some people in need.

Specialized in hospitality and hotel services, and has scientific interests, Ahmed has invented a solar oven which uses no fire nor gas, the idea is based on intensification of solar heat and to concentrate it on the plate which to be cooked and it uses an insulator to prevent heat’s leaking.

An architect graduated from Dhamar University which lost her job in the beginning of war so she decided to develop her talent in drawing, but she could not provide costs of the materials of her talent, therefore, she used simple and affordable materials like coffee to draw. Nora showed some of her drawings to the audience using coffee, which once was shown in Basement exhibition.

Since the prices of gas has risen, many people have turned to use bicycles instead of automobiles, Amer thought of reinventing the idea to make it similar to Tuk-Tuk, he made it by the typical bicycle and made it wide enough to contain four people inside of it without using gas in which one can use for transportation without many expenses and gain money out of it is used as taxi.

With the same quality and half price compared to the market, Enas has invented a way to produce bread, and she made it affordable for families in need during the current hardship.

{slider Eyad Al-Akhali, Producing Methane Gas as Alternative Fuel }
An engineer and a teacher in Society College has invented a simple way to produce methane gas from simple materials and available in market, like starch, calcium, and acetic acid; it is easy homemade but with supervision of experts to avoid danger, Eyad Applied the experiment in front of the audience and pressed it in gas pipe and produced fire out of it.

Ali’s Idea was to invest the water of rains by collecting it from the roofs of houses, and to store in concrete floor tanks, then to reprocess the water and to reuse it,
{slider Rayan Al-Shaibani, Drawing on Jonia}
Journalist and artist Rayan Al-Shaibani could not attend the event for he was in the city of Taiz and he faced several hardships to return back to Sanaa. He invented a new way to draw on canvas based on simple material (Jonia, used for rice and sugar), to draw splendid painting with a special touch.

Motorcycles need gas furthermore it is not friendly to the environment, therefore, Wael has thought to make an eco-friendly motorcycle which uses solar power to conduct movement, it allows it to move with the velocity of 80km/hour. Wael used his Motorcycle to attend Resume event.

Not dependent on electricity and gas, it works on electromagnetic power, Rasheed notes that the principle of preserving power is well known, and during these hard times he invented a circuit that could be homemade by using: small fan, small generator, light lamps, and magnet. It produces power using dynamic movement, Rasheed made lots of these lamps at his house but he could not provide it to the market because the magnet with certain power is not available at home.
A group of 10 Yemeni girls has represented Yemen in many scientific conferences and they have won with the 2nd rate for many products they have invented to help society in the Arab World, on their behave Rana Mansour and Asmaa Mohammed about their system (Kahro-Ebda). They have used the wind turbines to produce energy. Which could be used day and night which is an advantage compared to solar panels.
In the end of the event, Shaima Jamal thanked the participants and noted that the interest of the foundation to represent these works should work along with the governmental attention and to record it as invention holding the names of their inventors and to work on providing these products as services to the society.
