Within the activities of “spaces”, the Basement Cultural Foundation held a public debate, February 13, 2021, entitled “The reason for the isolation of the marginalized group in Yemen is their desire to do so.. with or against.” Eight debaters participated in it (each team included four participants), and the debate included four rounds during which the audience intervened, whose opinions varied between supporters and opponents of the thesis, and the result of the pre-questionnaire for the voices was 41% in favor of the thesis and 58% against the thesis, and in the post questionnaire, the result was 33% in favor of the thesis. And 67% were against the thesis, and thus the team opposed to the thesis was able to change the public’s opinions and decide the result in its favor, and Abdul Rahman Dawood facilitated the debate.
This debate comes after training 15 participants in debate skills, presentation skills, and the basics of scientific research. Eight debaters were selected to participate in the public debate and 2 writers participated in the written debate.
Spaces “Fadaat” is a project through which Basement works to qualify young people in the field of argumentation and debate by training them and giving them the opportunity to speak in front of the public in a variety of artistic and influential ways.
