Within the activities of “Spaces”, “Basement Cultural Foundation” today, Saturday, March 27, 2021, held a public debate entitled “Modernization threatens the heritage and culture of Yemeni society … with or against.” Ten debate participants (each team included five participants) participated in the debate. Five rounds included in the interventions of the audience, whose opinions varied between supporters and opponents of the thesis, and the results of the pre-questionnaire for the audience were 33% in favor of the thesis and 67 opponents of the thesis, and in the post questionnaire the result was 45% in support of the thesis and 55% against the thesis, thus the team supporting the thesis was able to change the views of The audience and decide the result in its favor.
This debate comes after training 15 participants in debate skills, presentation skills, and the basics of scientific research. Eight debaters were selected to participate in the public debate and 2 writers participated in the written debate.
Spaces “Fadaat” is a project through which Basement works to qualify young people in the field of argumentation and debate by training them and giving them the opportunity to speak in front of the public in a variety of artistic and influential ways.
