Within the activities of “Spaces”, Basement Cultural Foundation held a public debate today, December 26, 2020, entitled ” Khat does not interfere with development in Yemen … With or Against?” Eight debaters participants (each team included four participants), the debate included four rounds during which the audience intervened, whose opinions varied between supporters and opponents of the thesis, and the result of the pre-questionnaire was 22% in favor of the thesis and 78% against the thesis, and in the post questionnaire, the result was 51% in favor For the thesis and 49% opposed the thesis, the team in support of the thesis was able to change the opinions of the public and decide the result in its favor.
This debate comes after training 15 participants in debate skills, presentation skills, and the basics of scientific research. Eight debaters were selected to participate in the public debate and 2 writers to participate in the written debate.
Spaces “Fadaat” is a project through which Basement works to qualify young people in the field of argumentation and debate by training them and giving them the opportunity to speak in front of the public in a variety of artistic and influential ways.
