Event 405 – “The importance of emotions and emotions in the life of the individual and society”

As part of the Knowledge Exchange Forum activity, on Thursday 31 October 2019, the 405th event entitled “The importance of emotions and emotions in the life of the individual and society” was held, Presented by Dr. Nabeel Al-Awdi, a consultant oncology, and a doctor at Kuwait University Hospital. The event is accompanied by the exhibition entitled “The Silent Soul” by the artist Amna Al-Matari, who considers that her artistic career is the main part of her life since childhood.

Jihad Ba-Break started by introducing the event, allowing Dr. Al-Awdi to share his thoughts. Opening thanks to the audience, he stated that most of the things we think we know are the ones we don’t understand. Moving between the functional roles of biological and sociological and their overlap with each other in the composition of human and thus society, and from the diseases and it is its effects on physical health  and some common diseases. Then read some of the statements of senior thinkers related to the subject of the lecture, and then comply with what are the emotions and how to be negative and positive, and what types of emotions and how to differentiate between them.

He mentioned the function of emotions, as an adaptive function, and as a pushing force. And he distinguished between many feelings such as love and what separates it from narcissism, and ownership love, and its reflection on the family, as well as some imbalances, such as the lack of feelings of empathy and their association with crime, noting that there are educational barriers may come through instances of imbalance, and how to work to make it balanced.

Then, Dr. Nabil Al-Oudi explained the role of emotions in the success of life by tracking some intelligent, tolerance and flow relationships, mentioning the most important statistics that were established on people with high IQ, and that there are common indicators among them to help them flow and creativity. also mentioned the influence of emotions in the life of society, fanatic attitudes, emotional activity in the case of intolerance, and how to manipulate the emotions of those of the emotional characters. Moving between certain beliefs, how it felt conscious about these emotions and how to turn them into Legendary characters, and other personalities, answering that the ancient peoples believed that these things are personalities, but in the abstract form are feelings have been embodied in personalities, as they had been proved to  be related to the mind. Turning to the types of emotional intelligence, mentioning philosophers and writers who talked about these topics such as Avicenna, Leo Tolostoy and others.

Moving on to the biological form, he also addressed the division of the brain and the training of the brain since childhood, the functional role of the brain and how to comply it to society, the balance between the mind and the emotional mind, the consumer culture, the differences between the natural brain and the brain that suffers from emotions and how they are faster than thinking because they instinctively instilled in us. Finally, go between some of the pictures that explain the subject and commenting briefly.

Then the stage moved to Amna al-Matari, a young artist who has loved art since her childhood, and considered this exhibition as a challenge for her, the first of her artistic career. She talked about her beginnings in painting, the idea of drawing a challenge, and sharing her drawing with groups on social media sites, and telling the public that her father had a big role in encouraging her to draw from her imagination and not to convey the image. Before opening the exhibition, Nabil Kassem commented with great admiration for the different exhibition and her  high level work. Before the opening the exhibition, the painter shared a short video showed the moments of the painting. Then, the exhibition opened to attend.
