Event 393 – In the country of shattered windows
Basement Cultural Foundation in the event of Knowledge Exchange Forum on Thursday morning, February 7, 2019, hosted the Cultural Program (Diwan al-Fan), where it presented the final outputs of the project: (In the country of shattered windows).
The event started with a promotional video of the project, after which representatives of the Diwan al-Fann initiative, which is one of the programs of Ramoz Cultural Foundation, talked about the initiative project entitled “In the country of shattered windows”, where they mentioned the main idea of the project is the dialogue between the young Yemeni poets about Topics that interest them. They stressed the importance of giving space for the Yemeni voices to reach abroad instead of the foreign news media that people are tired of hearing. They pointed out the importance of the Yemeni voice in the transmission of events, and this event is the first event of its kind in Sana’a.
The poet’s adviser to the project, writer Wajdi Al-Ahdal, spoke about the importance of this work in a speech entitled “Who listens to poets?” He mentioned the poets’ continuous attempts to communicate their voices, and stressed the importance of listening to them.
This was followed by a reading of the poetic experiences of the participants in the project in Sana’a, where participants from other governorates were unable to attend the event, and poets were distributed on windows where they addressed issues of concern to youth and public opinion.
Finally, project coordinators talked about their website, and how to use it. The event concluded with the distribution of project booklet to the public.
