Today, Tuesday, May 5, 2026, an expanded consultation session was held in the city of Taiz, bringing together key cultural actors and institutions to discuss steps toward establishing the Cultural Cluster in the governorate. The effort aims to strengthen coordination and joint action across the local cultural sector.

Organized by the Taiz Governorate Culture Office in coordination with the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation office and the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor office, the session was supported by the Basement Cultural Foundation.

The meeting was attended by key leadership, including:

• Nabil Jamel: Director of the Planning and International Cooperation Office

• Qasim Ibrahim: Director of the Culture Office

• Fouad Al-Faqih: Director of the Social Affairs and Labor Office

• Shaima Jamal: Executive Director of the Basement Cultural Foundation

• 30+ Representatives: Active cultural figures and organization delegates

Moderated by Eng. Hamed Al-Faqih, the session opened with welcoming remarks from the Director of the Culture Office, who underscored the need to bolster Taiz’s cultural scene and unify efforts to drive sectoral development.

The Director of the Planning and International Cooperation Office highlighted the strategic importance of founding the Cultural Cluster at this stage. He framed it as a structure to organize cultural initiatives, foster institutional integration, and meet the shared responsibility placed on cultural stakeholders.

Participants reviewed and debated the proposed foundational and organizational bylaws for the cluster, contributing feedback and vision regarding operational and coordination mechanisms. Attendees confirmed their commitment to actively engaging in future activities to advance the governorate’s cultural ecosystem.

The session concluded with an agreement to finalize and launch the membership registration form in the coming days as a first practical step.
